Financial Assistance Provided by the Ministry for installation of the Rooftop Solar Plant
Central Financial Assistance gives 15% of the total cost under the Grid connected Rooftop Solar plants and Small Solar Plants.
Other Fiscal incentives available for Rooftop Solar Plant
Concessional import duty/excise duty exemption, accelerated reduction and tax holiday for setting up of grid connected rooftop power plants.
Area required for installation of 1kW Rooftop Solar Plant
1 kW rooftop system usually requires 12 sq. metres (130 square feet) of flat, shadow-free area if possible south-facing. Actual sizing, though, depends also on local factors of solar radiation and weather conditions and shape of the roof.
